Standing Down Straight with JUMP RHYTHM® and Loving It

Learning is ALWAYS an exciting adventure.  I became exposed to JUMP RHYTHM® Jazz Project when my daughter took the intensive with JUMP RHYTHM® Jazz Project, became an intern and now is a company member.  My first experience watching JUMP RHYTHM® Jazz Project on stage blew me out of the water.  To see such exciting dancing where dancers were connecting and responding to each other was a thrill for me with my theatrical background.  This was dancing that captured life and feelings and people’s experiences, and it really grabbed my attention.
When I learned that this was also great training for an actor because of the techniques of listening to each other and resounding to each other, I wanted to take advantage of this.  My background is not primarily as a dancer, but I could definitely see that this would help me in performance as an actor, and also in life as a human being.
The week was full with classes in the technique of Standing Down Straight®, human anatomy, movement, tap, swing dancing, and repertory.  How amazing it was to see that the more I responded to and gave to my partner the dynamics and joy of movement became more pronounced.  I was able to bring to the table what I had to offer, and it was great to see how I freed up even more.  Billy and the company members are so giving, so engaged, so caring and wanting each student to succeed.  It was more than dancing. It was more about living and being and enjoying the moments of communicating and moving in rhythm.
No matter what a person does in life, there is tremendous value and learning to taking part in anything that JUMP RHYTHM® Jazz Project makes available.  It was a great week!!!  I would do it again in a heartbeat!!!
